Many of our guests come to us wanting a hiking holiday and this is where South America really delivers. From the iconic Inca Trail, the treking paradise of Patagonia with famous hikes such as the W Trek, to the lesser known but challenging Lost City Trek in Colombia, our experts know their hiking routes. As well as such well-known hikes, we can also suggest lesser known and deeply rewarding hike routes that will take you away from the crowds. Consider the Salkantay Trek, an alternative route to Machu Picchu which takes you through spectacular nature and scenery. If you love volcanic hikes, the Quilotoa Loop in Ecuador is a beautiful route taking you close to the crater edge across amazing landscapes. For those who like quieter, away from it all walking, El Chalten in Argentina takes you across mountain passes, through thick forests and past winding rivers. Whether you prefer a short stroll to an amazing viewpoint, or a multi-day trek with a private guide, anything is possible on our active adventure holidays.
Two wheels and four legs
Cycling excursions are a brilliant opportunity to see more of the countryside in a greener way. We can arrange half day or full day guided bike tours leaving directly from your hotel, or more adventurous multi-day cycling to remote and untouched areas. A real Travel Differently signature active adventure is a bike ride through Maras and Moray in Peru. Really get away from the crowds on this exciting tour, taking in archaeological ruins and spectacular scenery.
Jumping on horseback to gallop through the desert in the Atacama or across a working estancia in Chile is one of the greatest ways to soak up the cultures and scenery of South America.
