Rajasthan Holidays
Our tailor-made Rajasthan holidays combine the classic Golden Triangle of Delhi, Agra and Jaipur with the side of India most visitors miss: nights in family-run forts and homestays, tiger safaris in Ranthambore, leopards among the granite hills of Jawai, and the lakes and palaces of Udaipur. Trips start from £6,762 per person for three weeks on our Slow Travel through Hidden Rajasthan, or £7,175 for 18 days on our Golden Triangle and Rajasthan holiday, with your own private guide and driver throughout. Rajasthan also combines beautifully with Bhutan and Nepal.

Top Rajasthan Experiences

Tracking Leopards in Jawai
Our favourite wildlife experience in India! The crumbling remnants of the Aravalli Hills create one of the most mesmerising landscapes in which to track the Indian leopard. Living alongside the red-turbaned Rabari shepherds, these big cats are a remarkable example of people and wildlife sharing the same land. Stay in a luxury safari camp on our Golden Triangle and Rajasthan holiday.

Stay in an Ancestral Homestay
Rajasthan is home to an abundance of grand forts and palaces, occupied by the same families for generations. Some of the very best open their doors to visitors, giving you a taste of the grandeur of Rajasthan’s Rajput rulers. From dinner atop the ramparts of a rural fort to rowing out on a lake before a sundowner with your hosts, you’ll experience aspects of local life rarely seen by other visitors. Read more in our guide to Rajasthan off the beaten track. Thinking of including Bhutan with Rajasthan? It’s all possible, so speak to our experts to find out how.

Experience a local festival
Rajasthan is home to all manner of festivals. The fireworks of Diwali and the colours of Holi are renowned throughout the world, but just as important to local communities are the smaller celebrations: the gathering of Sufis for music at the tomb of Nizamuddin in nearby Delhi, a village harvest fete near Jodhpur, or even a birthday party for a village elder in Rohet. A truly authentic experience on your Rajasthan holiday.

Searching for Tigers in Ranthambore
Once the hunting ground of Jaipur’s maharajas, Ranthambore National Park is one of the best places in India to see a wild tiger. Head out by open-top jeep at dawn, past old lakes, ruined pavilions and a hilltop fort, with an expert naturalist. Safari permits are limited, so we book them well in advance. Rajasthan private tours: Frequently Asked Questions
Please reach us at info@traveldifferently.co.uk if you cannot find an answer to your question.
What is India’s Golden Triangle?
The Golden Triangle is India’s classic first-time route, linking Delhi, Agra (for the Taj Mahal) and Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan. The three cities form a rough triangle a few hours’ drive or train ride apart. Most of our holidays start with the Golden Triangle, then head out into rural Rajasthan for forts, safaris and quieter countryside, as on our Golden Triangle and Rajasthan holiday.
How many days are enough for a Rajasthan trip?
We suggest a minimum of 10 days in Rajasthan, as this will cover the classic Golden Triangle route. However we prefer to suggest 14 days plus to include beautiful rural countryside, some time to stay in a Fort and enjoy a leopard spotting safari, or 2-3 nights in Ranthambore in search of Tigers. To really ‘do’ Rajasthan properly and away from crowds, including lesser-known areas like Bikaner and Jaisalmer, we suggest nearer three weeks.
Which month is best to visit Rajasthan?
October to March are the best months to visit Rajasthan in North India. The weather will be sunny, especially towards March time, but a pleasant manageable heat. At night you will likely need a jacket as temperatures can drop in December – January, but the weather will offer perfect conditions to travel around Rajasthan.
How much does a Rajasthan holiday cost?
Our tailor-made Rajasthan holidays start from £6,762 per person for 22 days on our Slow Travel through Hidden Rajasthan, or £7,175 for 18 days on our Golden Triangle and Rajasthan holiday, including your private guide and driver, hand-picked hotels, forts and camps, and safaris. Combining Rajasthan with Bhutan starts from around £8,143 for 23 days. International flights are extra.
Which part of Rajasthan is most beautiful?
All of Rajasthan is absolutely stunning and full of variety, but if you like history and cities steeped in colour Jaipur and Jodhpur are beautiful. Getting out into the countryside will show you the real India and you can expect incredibly beautiful scenery and awe-inspiring landscapes in places like Ramathra, Nimaaj and Jawai.
How do I get to Rajasthan from the UK?
You can fly directly to Delhi from London Heathrow in around 9 hours with British Airways, Virgin Atlantic or Air India, then continue by road, rail or a short flight into Rajasthan. Read more about entry requirements for India.
Can I combine Rajasthan with Bhutan or Nepal?
Yes, and it’s easy, as flights to Bhutan and Nepal connect through Delhi. See our North India & Bhutan Holiday (23 days) or our month-long Nepal, Bhutan & Rajasthan journey.
