Our Chile Honeymoon is a 15-day tailor-made adventure for couples who love the outdoors: cycle through the vineyards of the Colchagua Valley, climb Villarrica Volcano and raft in Pucón, explore the lakes and Mapuche culture of the Lake District, then finish with four all-inclusive nights at Patagonia Camp in Torres del Paine. Chile Honeymoon Itinerary: Day by Day
Day 1-2: Colchagua Valley
From Santiago airport, a private driver takes you south to the Colchagua Valley, one of Chile’s best-known red-wine regions, for two nights at Noi Blend Colchagua, around 2.5 hours away. On your full day, borrow bikes and ride through the vines of Viña Maquis with a guide, stopping by the river for a picnic and a glass or two of the estate’s wines. It’s the perfect antidote to months of wedding planning.
Day 3–6: Pucón
A short flight south and a transfer bring you to Pucón, your home for four nights at Casa Solaria. With the snow-capped cone of Villarrica Volcano rising over the lake, it’s no surprise this is Chile’s adventure capital.
Fit couples can join a guided climb to Villarrica’s crater rim; others might prefer a day among monkey-puzzle trees and mountain lakes in Huerquehue National Park. For an adrenaline rush, raft the lower Trancura River’s Class III and IV rapids, then soak it all away in one of the area’s hot springs.
Day 7–9: Puerto Varas
Head south by road through farmland and forest to Puerto Varas, on the shore of Lake Llanquihue, for three nights at Hotel Cabaña del Lago, looking across the water to Osorno Volcano.
Spend a day with a local guide on the Mapuche-Huilliche route, meeting the communities who have lived in southern Chile for centuries and sharing their food and stories. On another day, cross the emerald waters of Todos los Santos Lake and walk to the rushing Petrohué Falls. Evenings are for sunset strolls along the lakeshore and dinner in town.
Day 10-13: Torres del Paine
The grand finale. Fly to Puerto Natales for four all-inclusive nights at Patagonia Camp, in a yurt looking out through the forest towards Lake Toro and the Paine Massif. Meals, wine and daily guided outings are all included, so you only have to decide how adventurous you’re feeling each morning: the French Valley and its hanging glaciers, the classic hike to the base of the towers, a kayak on Lake Toro, or the camp’s own quiet trails (see Scarlett’s tip). Evenings by the fire with a glass of Chilean red are pretty special too.
Day 14-15: Santiago
Fly back to Santiago for a final night at Bidasoa Hotel in leafy Vitacura, close to some of the city’s best restaurants. Best time for a Chile honeymoon
The best time for this honeymoon is November to March, when Patagonia is at its mildest, Villarrica Volcano climbs are running and the Lake District is warm enough for kayaking and lakeside dinners. December to February is busiest, so book Patagonia Camp early. March brings the grape harvest in the Colchagua Valley. Tell us your wedding date, and we’ll plan around it.
