Detailed Slow Travel Through Hidden Rajasthan Itinerary
Day 1-3: Delhi
Catch your international flight into Delhi to begin your Slow Travel Through Hidden Rajasthan holiday. Meet your private guide and driver and transfer to your comfortable hotel to relax and settle into India.
The next morning, enjoy a captivating introduction to Delhi with a drive through Lutyens’ Delhi, passing India Gate, Rashtrapati Bhawan and the old Parliament House, before visiting Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, a Sikh temple renowned for its spirit of selfless service. In the afternoon explore the elegant Humayun’s Tomb, a Mughal masterpiece that inspired the Taj Mahal, and relax with a stroll through the historic Lodhi Gardens, dotted with 15th- and 16th-century garden tombs.
On your last day in Delhi, visit the medieval Jama Mosque with a walking or cycle-rickshaw tour through atmospheric lanes, vibrant markets and centuries-old family-run businesses, offering a vivid glimpse into the city’s living heritage.

Day 4-5: Agra – Chambal
Early this morning you will be transferred from your hotel to the railway station to board the Gatimaan Express to Agra. On arrival, meet your guide and visit the world-famous Taj Mahal (closed Fridays), the breathtaking Mughal masterpiece built by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved queen Mumtaz Mahal and often described as a timeless monument to love.
In the afternoon, continue by road to Chambal and check into your charming rural retreat and enjoy time at leisure.
Spend your next morning on a serene river safari on the Chambal River, where the gentle pace offers excellent opportunities to spot gharials, turtles, a rich variety of resident and migratory birds, and occasionally the rare Gangetic river dolphin surfacing nearby. Visit the traditional village of Holipura and the nearby Bateshwar temples, unhurriedly exploring these charming locations while soaking in the timeless rhythms of rural India.
Day 6-8: Ramathra
After breakfast you will be driven to Ramathra, a scenic five hour drive away deep into rural Rajasthan. We have selected a stunning fort-hotel set amongst rolling farmlands. With its remote location, imposing walls and panoramic ramparts it makes it a truly special retreat.
Relax and enjoy the atmosphere or choose from a range of activities, including birdwatching by boat on Kalisil Lake, jeep safaris across the dramatic Daang plateau to hidden forts and gorges, or a gentle walking tour of Ramathra village to experience gentle-paced rural life.

Day 9-11: Jaipur
After saying goodbye to your impressive fort, you will be driven four hours to Jaipur – the capital of Rajasthan. Known as the ‘pink city’ because of the pink paint applied to buildings in its walled city, Jaipur is steeped in history and culture and the past comes alive here in magnificent forts and palaces, where once maharajas lived.
Spend time visiting the stunning Amber Fort, City Palace, Jantar Mantar, and drive past Hawa Mahal. End your day with a walking tour of Old Jaipur, enjoying some street food as you meander along. The bazaars in the old city of Jaipur feature some of the best sights that the city has to offer. You will be taken through the labyrinth of colourful alleys where artisans make puppets, bangles, and other local handicrafts.
Day 12-13: Chhatrasagar
Today you will be driven to the village of Nimaj, deep in rural Rajasthan where you will be staying in a luxury tent. Spend the rest of your time here relaxing or take part in optional activities such as birdwatching, nature walks, jeep safaris and kayaking on the lake.

Day 14-16: Jodhpur
Drive around two hours to Jodhpur and spend the rest of the day relaxing at the stunning centrally located hotel we have chosen. With your guide, visit Mehrangargh Fort, one of the largest forts in India, peerless in terms of its grandeur and beauty. Close to the fort is the 19th century royal cenotaph, Jaswant Thada, a stunning creation in white marble which displays rare portraits of Jodhpur’s rulers.
Be wowed by Jodhpur’s famed ‘blue city’ on a guided walking tour, down meandering alleyways, crowded bazaars, exploring each nook and cranny at your own pace. There is so much so see, do and explore in Jodhpur, so we have included an extra day to experience more with your guide. Or choose to relax by the pool at your hotel and enjoy some down-time.
Day 17-18: Deogarh
Time for another change of scenery on your Slow Travel Through Hidden Rajasthan holiday, as you depart for rural Deogarh, around three hours drive away.
Spend two nights at a charming homestay run by family members of the former rulers of the region. Enjoy a day at leisure, or choose from some of the on-site activities such as wildlife safaris, boat trips, lakeside birdwatching or a local train ride.

Day 19-21: Udaipur
Drive to the impressive Jain temples of Ranakpur around two hours away. Built in the 15th century, Ranakpur temples are one of the most holy places for Jain pilgrimage.
Continue onwards to Udaipur, staying three nights in a beautiful and luxurious fort hotel on the outskirts of the city. Enjoy a private guided tour around Udaipur City, visiting the City Palace, Sahelion-ki-Bari and Jagdish Temple.
The huge city palace, towering over the lake, is the largest palace complex in Rajasthan. Be awed by the beautiful gardens of Sahelion-ki-Bari, with beautiful lawns, lotus pools, marble pavilions and marble elephant-shaped fountains. Explore Jagdish temple with its distinct Indo-Aryan style and black stone image of Lord Vishnu as Jagannath, the creator of the universe.
Your final hotel is a wonderful place to relax, book spa treatments and enjoy the final few days of delicious north Indian cuisine.
Day 22: Depart
Check out of your hotel and be transferred to the airport in Udaipur for your connecting flight home.
