Day 1-2: Kathmandu, Nepal

Catch your international flight into the capital of Nepal and stay in a comfortable and centrally located hotel for two nights. Join your expert local guide for a half-day sightseeing tour of Durbar Square, Indra Chowk and Ason Tole. Soak up the incredible sights, colours and sounds of energetic Kathmandu.

Try some delicious Nepalese food in a recommended local restaurant and spend the next day exploring Pashupatinath and Boudhanath Temple. Ask your guide if you would like to stop at any markets for shopping, they will show you the best way to master bartering.

Day 3-5: Pokhara, Nepal

Choose from a private drive (the scenic drive will take around 8 hours) or a short flight to Pokhara. Soak up magnificent lake views in this charming relaxed city, a total contrast to Kathmandu. Stay for three nights in our favourite lodge set on a hilltop with incredible valley views, homely service and delicious food.

Your time in Pokhara is spent hiking nearby trails: from easy scenic ambles to more challenging routes. Take a boat trip across Lake Phewa, explore markets, visit museums and try some fantastic local restaurants.

Day 6: Kathmandu, Nepal

Choose to be privately driven back to Kathmandu, or take a short domestic flight. Stay one final night in the city close to the airport to be ready for your morning flight to Paro, Bhutan.

Day 7-8: Thimphu, Bhutan

Catch your international flight from Kathmandu to Paro. On arrival meet your private guide and driver and begin your adventure in this mystical Kingdom.

Drive to Thimpu (around one hour) and visit the National Memorial Chorten and the striking Buddha Dordenma statue, before donning your walking boots and heading out for an easy hike to Changankha lhakhang. Relax in the afternoon, trying out some local cuisine, ambling around the Thimphu Farmers’ market and soaking up the cultures of this fascinating country.

The next day explore the Royal Textile Academy and the National Institute for Zorig Chusum. Be fascinated by a trip to the Takin Preserve and stop by the post office to create your own personalised stamp.

Day 9-10: Punakha, Bhutan

Drive around two hours to the Punakha Valley, where you will notice the landscapes and scenery become more varied. Stop en route at the incredible Dochu La Pass for some breathtaking views and a photo opportunity. You will stay two nights in a peaceful and comfortable hotel in the heart of the valley.

Visit Chimi Lhakhang, the famous Punakha Dzong and be wowed by the Punakha suspension bridge. If the conditions allow, choose to go rafting with an expert team along the mighty Punakha River. Get your walking boots on for a scenic hike to Khamsum Yuelley Chorten and take in the stunning views and fresh mountain air.

Witness some extraordinary cultural customs in the Punakha Valley by visiting the nunnery for a blessing ceremony.

Day 11-12: Gangtey, Bhutan

Depart Punakha for Phobjikha for a three hour drive through beautiful Himalayan scenery. The Gangtey Valley is renowned for wonderful walking trails and picturesque views. Rest and relax on your first afternoon, taking some relaxed strolls to view points. In the evening participate in evening prayers at Shedra, a uniquely memorable experience.

Visit Gangtey Goemba followed by a wonderful hike along the Gangtey Nature Trail for some memorable Himalayan scenes. Visit the Black-necked Crane Centre, witnessing these incredible creatures up close while learning more about the ongoing efforts to protect them.

Day 13-14: Paro, Bhutan

A longer drive day (around six hours) takes you back to Paro for your final two nights of your Nepal and Bhutan Highlights of The Himalayas Holiday.

Stay in a comfortable hotel perfect for exploring the surroundings on foot. Visit the intriguing Ta Dzong and stop off at a local farmhouse to discover more about the Bhutanese way of life.

Saving the best until last, your final day in Bhutan will take you to the iconic Tigers Nest Monastery. With your guide, hike the famous four hour route and be awed by the unique and spiritual scenes that greet you. This will be a truly memorable travel moment.

Day 15: Depart

Saying goodbye to The Land of The Thunder Dragon, you’ll transfer to the airport for your flight back to Kathmandu. If the weather is on your side you may catch a glimpse of mighty Mount Everest. Depending on your onwards international flight times, you may need an extra night in Kathmandu which we can arrange.
