Detailed Patagonia highlights Itinerary
Day 1-2: Buenos Aires
Begin your classic Patagonia holiday flying into exciting and colourful Buenos Airies. Rest after your flight before heading out on foot to explore the city and its highlights. With a local guide walk through Palermo, colouful La Boca, the Plaza de Mayo and iconic Recoleta. Why not spend the evening sampling some world-famous Malbec, eat out in one of the many delicious steak houses and even catch a tango show.

Day 3-6: El Chalten
Leave the city, taking a flight to El Calafate in the south of the county. Here, we place an emphasis on greener travel by taking a bus to the mountain town of El Chalten. There are a number of established hiking routes directly from the town, so you can get straight into the action on foot. Enjoy walks independently, or with a local guide who can show you some spectacular viewpoints. Our top tip here is to embark on the Laguna Torre and Laguna de Los Tres hikes, which will offer views of glacier-formed valleys, epic mountain passes alpine forests and stunning sights of Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre.
Day 7-9: El Calafate
An exciting day awaits, journeying to the gateway of Argentina’s most iconic glacier, the Perito Moreno Glacier. With your expert guide, enjoy a full day tour sailing across Rico Lake, witnessing giant chunks of ice float past and taking to the boardwalks to grasp the scale of the scenery from different viewpoints. Fancy more of a challenge? Strap on crampons and tackle a full days ice hike to experience the glacier up close, or choose to kayak past. Enrich your Patagonia holiday with some history and culture, learning more about the Tehueleche people and how they navigated a relationship with early explorers.

Day 10-12: Torres del Paine
Our classic Patagonia highlights holiday now reaches the famous Torres del Paine National Park, crossing over the Chilean border where you will base yourself in a charming, simple hotel within close proximity to the park. To make this holiday an affordable way to explore Patagonia, we have kept these days at leisure, meaning you can pick and choose exactly which activities and excursions you prefer during your stay. Your hotel can arrange these with local guides and small groups. Choose from more unique hikes like Pingo Valley, boat trips around the Grey Glacier, and classic hikes such as Base of the Torres. Want to include as much wildlife spotting as possible on your Patagonia highlights holiday? Take a look at our Chile wildlife guide.
Day 13-14: Puerto Natales
Transfer to the small port town of Puerto Natales, a perfect base for some exhilarating day trips. One of our favourite full-day excursions is a boat journey through Patagonia’s secret fjords, journeying to the Balmaceda and Serrano Glaciers. What makes these glaciers special is they are only accessed by boat, so compared to busier glacier excursions, your time here is peaceful, away from the crowds and unique. This is how you do Patagonia differently.

Day 15: Santiago
Leaving your Patagonia highlights adventure, fly north to Santiago to spend one final night in the vibrant capital of Chile. There are some incredible restaurants, museums and local markets to explore. If you wanted more time in Santiago before flying home, perhaps add on some days in a vineyard just an hour away, speak to our experts to find out more.
