Detailed Itinerary
Day 1-3: Pantanal
Start your journey in the mighty Pantanal. During your time here you will discover a huge diversity of flora and fauna by river boat, canoe, walking trails, 4×4 jeeps and horseback. Amongst the biodiversity to be found are 35 species of mammals (including the jaguar), 352 species of birds, and over 10 million caimans! If you are particularly keen on spotting jaguars, we can arrange an extension to Porto Jofre where the chances are very high.
Accommodation: 3 nights at Araras Lodge
Day 4-5: Chapada dos Guimarães
Driving north from your Pantanal lodge, we take the time to go off-the-beaten-track amongst the Savannah Tablelands. Chapada dos Guimarães is a national park of dramatic views, rocky canyons, crystal-clear waterfalls, refreshing river swims and calming birdsong. Return each evening to your boutique lodge, from where a short walk offers beautiful sunsets over São Geronimo Peak.
Accommodation: 2 nights at Pousada do Paque
Day 6-8: Amazon
Travel by plane, car and boat to the deep Southern Amazon, a million miles (metaphorically) from the tourist crowds that head to Manaus further north. Your award-winning lodge staff will guide you through the local flora and fauna, by canoe, jungle hikes, boat trips, and up into their canopy observation towers. You will also learn about their impressive and crucial conservation work, blending both cultural and environmental needs.
Accommodation: 3 nights at Cristalino Lodge
Day 9-11: Paraty
Fly south to Sao Paolo, from where you will be driven to the coastal town of Paraty, a preserved colonial gem and the perfect place to explore the beaches, coves, jungles and waterfalls of the Green Coast. Take a small boat trip to neighbouring bays, kayak to a mangrove forest, take a jeep tour into the mountains, or simply explore the cobblestone streets of this gorgeous town.
Accommodation: 3 nights at Pousada do Ouro
Day 12-14: Rio de Janeiro
We end the journey in iconic Rio de Janeiro, visiting Sugarloaf and Corcovado Mountains (including the Statue Of Christ The Redeemer), and with the option of an evening tour with our local guide to experience Rio’s famous nightlife. The next day either relax on the beach, or take an enjoyable hike up to a alternative final view of the city through the rainforest. The choice is yours!
